3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a method of creating a three dimensional object layer-by-layer using a computer created design. 3D printing is an additive process whereby layers of material are built up to create a 3D part. The main purpose of 3D printing is to create physical objects from digital designs. It works by building up layers of material – like plastic or metal – until the object is formed. This can be used to make all sorts of things, from simple shapes to complex parts for machines.
